Rare MANDALIAN Mfg Art Deco 1920s Flapper Painted Enamel Mesh Handbag Bag Purse. Today we are delighted to offer for sale a wonderful antique Mandalian painted mesh purse! The Mandalian Mfg Co of North Attleboro, MA was founded in 1898. The company specialized in handbags and jewelry and was a competitor of Whiting and Davis in the high-end mesh purse market.

Both of these manufacturers were located within minutes of our antiques mall so we tend to get some of their best creations as they were frequently brought home by employees. Mandalian closed in the 1940's. This fabulous 1920's Flapper-era evening purse is beautifully and expertly crafted and detailed. The bag features an ornate ormolu filigree tapered frame, with inset painted enameled flowers below the floral clasp. The mesh body is delicately painted in a geometrical floral pattern in purples, pinks, whites, and gold.

The bottom of the mesh body features a serrated border. The interior of the purse features a plain salmon-colored fabric lining. The purse features a delicate chain with a 5-1/2 drop. Marked on the inner frame Mandalian Mfg.

Purse presents beautifully and is in very good antique condition, with minor surface wear/tarnishing and patina commensurate with age. Metal frame is slightly distorted though it has minimal affect on appearance or function (this distortion is common to most examples of such bags as the die-cast frames tended to warp slightly with age). Lining is in good condition, with minimal soiling; one corner has an insignificaant (and fixable) tear. Add elegance and style to any antique and vintage purse collection with this Mandalian gem..
