Large Modern Midcentury Abstract Studio Enamel Copper Art Plaque Painting Winter

HERES A HIGHLY UNUSUAL ORIGINAL VINTAGE MIDCENTURY ENAMEL-ON-COPPER PLAQUE / PAINTING POSSIBLY BY AN ARTIST NAMED MIDGE GRAY! Please Note: Although the enamel-on-copper plaque itself is seemingly unsigned, the name Midge Gray is written on the backside board but then is blacked out with felt marker. It is unknown whether or not Midge Gray was the artist or a prior owner who wanted their name to be obscured.

Also, Please Note: This original vintage midcentury enamel-on-copper plaque / painting still retains its original framing and backing, which includes an initial dark blue velvet frame that is mounted on top of a painted greenish-blue wooden frame. The dark blue velvet and painted greenish-blue wooden frame are obviously color coordinated to enhance the color palette used in the enamel-on-copper plaque/painting. As stated, the enamel-on-copper plaque / painting itself does not appear to be signed.

But on the backside of the frame are the following markings: Winter (written twice) and the number 50 (which might be for the date 1950). As you can see from the photographs shown above, the enamel plaque displays an unusual abstract design that seemingly represents the title Winter written on the backside.

The enameling is rendered in dark blue, greenish-blue, and white, and is divided up into segments. When the initial enameling was completed, the artist applied a white cloth mesh in certain areas that is held down by white enameling. Both the appearance and surface texture is rough, slightly distressed, and even somewhat sharp. Again, this is very unusual! The original vintage midcentury enamel-on-copper plaque / painting itself measures approximately ten inches (10) in height by eight inches (8) in width.

The overall dimensions of the frame are approximately twenty one inches (21) in height by seventeen inches (17) in width. Condition: The enamel plaque itself is in excellent and clean condition. The dark blue velvet and greenish-blue painted wooden frame are also in excellent condition with a few small scuffs and markings. LASTLY, SHOULD THE WORD "EAMES" BE USED IN THE SEARCH TITLE, IT IS THERE FOR THE PURPOSE OF REFERENCING THE MID-CENTURY TIME PERIOD OF THE 1940S THROUGH THE 1970S.
