John Shaw Enamel Art Painting Copper 16x12 Nantucket Attack Whaling Ship
I have for sale a signed by artist. Enamel Art Painting on Copper. Unusually large size find for this artist. Complete in original frame and original certificate. Enamel Art (note by artist). In my introduction to Enamel Art, I became intrigued with the brilliant jewel like appearance, the depth and challenging effects one could potentially achieve in this medium. I therefore made a transition from painting in oils and watercolors.
A fusing coat of finely powdered glass is fired on a sheet of copper in a kiln at approx 1400 degrees. After the glass is melted, the subject is then sketched, Then by manipulation of powdered colored glass, and numerous subsequent firings, the result achieved is a jewel like picture which will be an heirloom of tomorrow, as it will last forever. Enamel art after centuries, is in a renaissance stage, which we hope will continue. Signed by John Shaw in 1982.
