Extremely Rare French 19th Century Enamel Jesus Christ Flaming Passion Sacred Heart Painting. Signed by the remarkable French enameler Marchaison , and noted " d'apres Cabane " (After Cabane) whom drew the original on a larger scale, for Marchaison was famous for creating original miniature enamel paintings of original large scale oil paintings by other famous painters such as Cabane. I have seen numerous copies of this miniature enamel version of the Passion of Christ but I have not encounter another earlier version, for this is the miniature enamel painting that inspired all the others, note the lovely details and thus quality, the originals always hold true with future artist trying their best to play catch up.
Approximate gilt wood frame dimensions are 16.9 cm (6 5/8 inches) x 21.8 cm (8 9/16 inches). Approximate exposed enamel painting dimensions are 9.2 cm (3 5/8 inches) x 13.3 cm (5 1/4 inches). Marchaison had extraordinary talent creating visual almost three dimensional enameling surpassing all others! I present you here the most beautiful enamel painting of Jesus that I have ever encountered! A figure of Jesus that will remind you and those you love of the Passion of Christ!
