Framed Vintage 1930s Signed Joe Stanek Paint on Enamel Panel of Mountain Scene

This is a stunning piece of art from a local Chicago artist, Joe Stanek, who was a Czechoslovakian immigrant working at the Benjamin Electric Manufacturing Company and teaching himself to paint on enamel panels during his lunch breaks in the 1930s. This painting is an enamel panel painted in an incredibly vibrant and intricate color scheme, depicting a realistic landscape scene in hyperrealistic, almost fantastical hues. The painting features a calm babbling brook weaving along a tree line and natural path, and in the distance is a large and majestic mountain peak.

This scene is a tranquil sunset or perhaps a daybreak, but it is not a stretch to imagine some sort of magical forest scene just around the corner. It is in excellent vintage condition with minor age-appropriate wear. There are a few instances where there are minor scratches in the painted enamel, resulting in mild paint loss, one in the stream, one in the tree branches, and one near the tree trunks. They are noticeable under scrutiny. The black painted wooden frame has some scuffing consistent with age and use.

This piece with frame included is 21 1/4 inches long and 14 1/2 inches wide. It is signed by the artist and dated 1936.
