Dorothy Gillespie was an innovative American Sculptor who liberated sculpture from traditional forms with her concept of combining the structural integrity of aluminum with colorful enamel surfaces into capricious imagery of ribbons of aluminum spiraling in graceful undulations and configurations with curling tendrils that twist and furl like unfolding plant life. Born in 1920, Dorothy Gillespie had a seven decade career creating monumental sculpture that adorned public art spaces from Florida to New York City.

Gillespie's massive constructions are installed at New York's Lincoln Center, Orlando, Florida's Epcot Center and countless collections around the globe.
