Offered here is a vintage Art Deco Chinoiserie (circa 1920) style mantel clock by Buren of England. This wooden Tambour shape clock has a black lacquer finish with hand painted gold relief of a Japanese landscape scene including a pagoda & a Japanese woman in kimono, man behind her. Some lovely hand painted golden flowers decorate the sides & it has molded trim along the front. The brass clock itself is removable and isn't working as I don't have the key to wind it. I'm not an expert so I'm not sure if it works or needs a simple repair.
The lovely enamel dial with Roman Numerals has a plastic cover (not glass) & is in good condition with original hands. The finish has some very small/minor age appropriate signs of usage that in no way detract from the elegance of this vintage clock. There's some minor paint loss to the right side with woman in kimono (see photo). This measures 5.25" high x 8" wide x 3 front-back. It has little round brass bun feet affixed to the bottom - minor wear.
Photos are part of the description. Tambour Clocks originated around 1900. They were commonly referred to a "Napolean's Hat", camelback or humpback clock due to it's shape.
