Arts And Crafts Painted Enanel Crucifix On Copper. This plaque is domed with a very slightly mottled blue translucent enamel that interact with the copper behind to give a lovely metallic effect. Dimensions: approx 85mm high x approx 41.5mm wide. This was part of a large collection of enamel plaques and enamelling ephemera that was part of the estate of Harold Soper. Harold specialised in painted enamel and painted stall plates for Windsor chapel, for royalty and celebrities.

His father was William Soper who was likewise a master at his skill and actually taught members of the royal family to enamel. The collection mostly included pieces by Harold and William Soper but also other works by their contemporaries. Please note the Soper business card is not included in this sale and Ive only shown it as I thought it may be of interest.
