Antique Mid Century Modern California Expressionist Mosaic Painting, 1959

This is a finely done Antique Mid Century Modern California Expressionist Mosaic Painting, enamel (or another medium) on tile, by mid century artist Ed Price. This work depicts a colorful cockerel, depicted like a phoenix, standing above a vista of vibrant blue, green, and yellow. The cockerel is highlighted with luminous gold accents, and painted with a long and spiraling phoenix-like tail behind him.

Signed and dated: "Ed Price'59" in the lower right corner. Stylistically this reminds me of some of Chagall's animal paintings. Price's works are scarce, but have achieved high numbers in past sales. Good condition for age, with some mild scuffing, edge wear, light soiling, and minor paint loss to the original period frame please see photos. Approximately 21 1/8 x 34 1/8 inches including frame.
