Superb antique 19th century French Limoges miniature portrait kiln-fired enamel on copper plaque, housed in an opulent gilt bronze frame. A charming miniature enameled work inspired after La Faneuse (The Tedder) by Julien Dupré, depicting a woman in the field pitching hay. Beautifully rendered with exquisite detailing, with colorful tones on a dark reddish brown background embellished with gilt accents. The enamel is done on a convex copper plaque, which is then kiln fired. Signed by the enamelist initials PR or RP in gold gilt.
Followed by d'après Julien Dupré. The enameled portrait is housed in a gilt bronze frame. Decorated with finely casted ornamental appliques on a velvet covered background. The frame having intricated patterned friezes along the sides.
Topped by an ornate finial comprising of scrolling foliate, rocailles and florals with a scalloped shell in the center. The back with a loop ring for hanging. A beautiful piece and in very good antique condition with general wear to the frame. Frame measures 10" length x 10 5/16" height.
