As you can see from the photographs shown above, the bowl's interior depicts a large and beautifully detailed wide-eyed horned owl presumably perched and waiting in the solitude of nighttime. Surrounded to the point of almost being absorbed by the deep dark blue enameled background, the horned owl intently gazes straight ahead into the stillness of darkness, only illuminated by the yellow enameled accents over its blue, black, green, and red enameled composition. Kudos to the artist for creating a stellar nocturnal event! The bowl's underside continues the artistic theme with its opaque speckled greenish-black counter enameling -- top-notch! Condition: Generally very good and clean condition with a few unobtrusive small scratches on the interior, some very small scratches on the owl's black eyes (which are raised upwards and consequently are a high point on the bowl's interior), and there are a few small craze lines located within the deep dark blue enamel toward the outer rim at the bottom of the bowl's interior (which can really only be seen with a magnifying glass).
Overall and regardless of the faults mentioned, this is still a "superior-in-every-way" example of midcentury enamel art. Move over Miguel Pineda and Maggie Howe! The item "9+ SIGNED A.
