19c Antique Mughal Emperor Jahangir Miniature Painting In Stunning Enamel Frame

19C ANTIQUE JAHANGIR EMPEROR MUGHAL MINIATURE PAINTING ENAMEL SILVER FRAME. This is a piece that I acquired several years ago. It is a 19C miniature painting of an Indian Mughal Emperor in a enameled frame. He was born Nur-ud-Din Muhammad Salim. The painting is a small oval under glass. It appears that some of the paint is missing or worn off. The frame measures 2 1/2" H x 2" W and weighs 3/4 ounce. The frame is a muted silver color. It may be a German coin silver or some type of silver colored metal.

The enamel is white, gray green, ruby red and yellow. It is pooled between little twisted coils of metal wire. The frame is bordered with tiny balls some of which have squished. There is a small loop on the back for hanging on a wall but could also could be worn as a larger pendant. This is a very old piece.
