Wall relief: enamel paint on aluminum: 36 x 13 x 7 inches. Signed: Dorothy Gillespie (lower right curl). Condition: Im sure there are probably a few tiny areas of paint loss and scratches to the enamel surface. Please review photos although some areas might look like scratches but it is the reflection of the metal in the indoor and outdoor photos. Gillespie has liberated sculpture from traditional forms with her concept of combining the structural integrity of aluminum with colorful enamel surfaces into capricious imagery of ribbons of aluminum spiraling in graceful undulations and configurations with curling tendrils that twist and furl like unfolding plant life.

Gillespie was known for her site-specific works, Colorfall, a 40-foot tall construction hangs in the lobby of Wilmington's Thalian Hall, Center for the Performing Arts. Gillespie's massive constructions were installed at Lincoln Center in New York, at Epcot Center in Orlando, Fla. (where the artist long had a studio), and in museums across the world.
