HERES AN OUTSTANDING 10 1/4 ORIGINAL VINTAGE MODERN MIDCENTURY AMERICAN ENAMEL-ON-COPPER ART PLATE OR SHALLOW BOWL THAT DISPLAYS A HIGHLY UNSUAL TWO-SIDED BOLD COLOR FIELD ABSTRACTION RENDERED IN VARIOUS SHADES OF ORANGE, BLACK, YELLOW, AND BROWN ENAMELING! Seemingly unsigned, the American artist who created this visually striking example of enamel art possessed both advanced technical and artistic knowledge in order to successfully execute the plates two-sided abstract composition. As you can see from the photographs shown above, the plates interior displays a more intensely bold color field contrast of orange and black with some yellow enameling and is comprised of complex lines and shapes all of which appears to be spontaneously and randomly applied. The counter enameling for the plates underside is a fully executed second abstract composition rendered in more subdued variations of yellow, black, and brown enameling. Again, the abstraction is comprised of complex lines and shapes, both layered and overlapping one another.

It should also be noted that the artist handmade the form for this plate or shallow bowl from heavy gauge copper giving the feel of substantiality when holding it in your hands. The plate measures approximately ten and one quarter inches (10 1/4) inches in diameter by one inch (1) in height. Again, for whatever reason, the artist seemingly did not sign this plate or perhaps used a paper label that has since been removed. Condition: Generally excellent and clean condition with some small firing dimples on the underside bottom (which are original to the plate). And because the copper form of the plate was handmade, it is ever-so-slightly out-of-round with a couple of small rim warbles (again, original to the plates making). Overall, this enamel plate is still top-level in every way.
