HERES A SPECTACULAR SIGNED ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1960S-1980S MODERN ENAMEL-ON-COPPER PLAQUE BY MEXICAN ARTIST DOMINGO BLOCK DISPLAYING A PSYCHEDELIC CELESTIAL ABSTRACTION COMPRISED OF A LARGE DARK BLUE AND BLACKISH-GREY MOON OR PLANETARY BODY WITH A SMALLER LIGHT BLUE AND WHITE MOON OR PLANETARY BODY AT ITS SIDE ALONG WITH AN EXPLOSION OF EITHER SOLAR FLARES OR THE DUST & ION TAILS OF A MULTI-COLORED COMET! The enamel-on-copper plaque itself measures eight inches (8) in height by ten inches (10) in width. The overall dimensions of the white-painted wood frame are approximately eleven inches (11) in height, thirteen inches (13) in width, by one and one eighth inches (1 1/8) in depth. Please Note: This enamel-on-copper plaque still retains its original white-painted wooden frame with a gold-painted interior wood liner, as well as its original paper backing.

Signed Block in the bottom right corner. The signature is made up of small silver wires, similar to silver wires used in cloisonné enameling.

In addition, the paper backing on the backside of the frame has the following hand-written information: Domingo Block Mexico / 78 Poesia along with some writing that has been blacked out. The word Poesia in written in parentheses and therefore might constitute a title for the plaque.

To this end, the word Poesia in Spanish means Poetry. As you can see from the photographs shown above, Domingo Block employed an extensive palette of enamel colors to create his psychedelic abstraction, including orange, red, dark blue, yellow, white, black, green-blue, purple, blackish-grey, and variations thereof. As already mentioned, the abstraction has the appearance of being a celestial configuration of a large and small moon or planetary body surrounded by what might constitute solar flares or the dust and ion tails of a comet. But this is just one interpretation.

Condition: Generally speaking, the enamel-on-copper plaque itself is in good+ and clean condition BUT it does have a cluster of three craze lines located at the bottom right edge of the large moon or planetary body and another one about midway along the outer left-side edge. The condition of the original white painted wooden frame is a different matter. The frame is split open along the outer edges but mostly along the bottom edge and along the right side edge with some paint loss to these areas. There are also some scattered scuffs and markings on the white painted surface. In addition, the inner gold-painted wood liner is loose from the white-painted frame along the bottom and right side. In the long run, these damages to the frame should be repaired.

Overall, this is still a important example of Domingo Blocks enamel art! LASTLY, SHOULD THE WORD "EAMES" BE USED IN THE SEARCH TITLE, IT IS THERE FOR THE PURPOSE OF REFERENCING THE MID-CENTURY TIME PERIOD OF THE 1940S THROUGH THE 1970S.
