The art depicts several figures in vivid colors. The 9 sight area measures approximately 9 3/4 inches by 7 3/4 inches. The enameled copper piece is housed in a rustic, wooden frame which measures about 15 1/8 inches by 13 1/8 inches; the frame is newer than the artwork. Unpacked, this piece weighs 2 pounds 12.8 ounces.
It would make a great addition to a midcentury modern decor, or to a collection of modernist fine art. Identification This piece is by Pascal Cucaro. The age of the enamel is not known, but it is vintage. Per AskART, this colorful character was born in Ohio to Italian parents. He was educated at the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco; he continued to study art during his travels in Europe.
Cucaro was part of the San Francisco Beat scene, and he exhibited within this realm. His studio was in North Beach, and he lived in Sausalito. He worked in oils, acrylics, enamels, ink, etc. With a bold, colorful style, depicting a variety of subjects including clowns, animals, street scenes, portraits, still lifes, and whatever inspired him. Cucaro has been called "An American Giant" and one of America's most exciting artists.Affixed verso is a small envelope which contains the wax seal shown in Photo 6. Condition This piece looks great overall. The enamel has no chips or cracks. The frame also looks great, with very light wear.
